Listening keeps our perspective: Jesus engages our senses
It is a good wager that most of us would not think that Catholicism in general, and most of all Melkite Catholicism, in particular, is a sensual experience. But our spiritual life comes alive in beautiful ways when we allow our senses to be to worked on. We humans are sensual beings and our whole being is brought to bear on our practice of religion. We stand, we sit, we smell incense, we make the Sign of the Cross, we consume the consecrated bread and wine, we are soothed by sacred oil, and so on.
Father François Beyrouti, pastor of Holy Cross Melkite Church delivered a homily, “How the Bible Engages All Our Senses” on Sunday, July 24, 2022.
