Today is the National Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of the Unborn. In our country today, the practice of abortion remains legal and widespread. While we should pray at all times for mothers and unborn children and work tirelessly to eliminate the conditions that lead to abortions, today the Church asks us to pray in a special way for lawmakers and for our fellow citizens, that we as a national may pass laws that protect the rights and livelihood of children in utero.

St. Gerard, patron saint of unborn children, pray for our country, that we may treasure and protect the least among us!
