Today, the Church with the Carmelites honor a recent saint, Mariam of Jesus Crucified (Baouardy), affectionately known as “The Little Arab” (1846-78). Saint Mariam was born in Nazareth. She was a Melkite, missionary & contemplative nun, establishing Carmels in India and Bethlehem, and was graced with extraordinary mystical experiences.

As a Discalced Carmelite nun she live a life of penance and intercession for the needs of the Church. Let us ask Saint Mariam of Jesus Crucified to intercede before God for our parish.

As a side note, the pastor of St Ann’s in Danbury, Father Tom Davis, has a particular devotion to Saint Mariam. Read more about Saint Mariam here.
