St Ann’s celebrated the Divine Liturgy for the Feast of the Dormition of the Holy Theotokos at Enders Island in Mystic, CT.
Father Dennis prayed a blessing upon “flowers which were offered in honor of your all-holy Mother, the Ever-virgin Mary, on the occasion of her passing to heavenly glory.”
We were joined by our friends and parishioners of St Basil’s in Rhode Island and Annunciation Cathedral in Boston. Looking at the congregation we had about 65 people. Father Dennis was joined at the altar by Father Ephrem and Father Joseph of Saint Basil’s in Rhode Island and pastor-emeritus Father Edward Kakaty and Subdeacons Kevin Powers and Paul Zalonski.
We’ve been doing this event for least 20 years.
Pope Pius XII’s pious words orients our attention.
“Receive, O most sweet Mother,
our humble supplications,
and above all obtain for us that,
one day, happy with you,
we may repeat before your throne that hymn
which today is sung on earth around your altars:
You are all-beautiful, O Mary!
You are the glory,
your are the joy,
your are the honor of our people!”
